US Congressman. Elected to represent California's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1903 to 1905. He was defeated in 1904. Also served as a Candidate for Governor of California as Democratic in 1906 and 1910, and Independent in 1918, and Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from California in 1912. He was killed in an automobile accident near San Rafael, California, while returning from a hunting trip. (bio by: K)
