Fondly and honorably remembered, along with his fellow countryman, Jesse Owens, for championship performances at the Berlin Olympic Games of 1936. Mr. Metcalfe and Mr. Owens stood proud together- two great Americans - as they accepted their Gold (Owens) and Silver (Metcalfe) medals, much to the racist chagrin of the infamous Adolph Hitler. Mr. Metcalfe also earned a Bronze medal in the 1932 Games, and a Gold in the 1936 Games for the 4x100 relay. Born in Atlanta GA. 1910 Education: Marquette University; Masters Degree from U.S.C.
