The Muncie Star, Thursday, March 21, 1991

Shirley M. McClurg, 1011 E. Memorial Drive, died Wednesday in her sister's residence after a long illness.
She was born in Marion, came to Muncie with her parents, graduated from Central High School and spent most of her life in this area.
Mrs. McClurg was one of the first persons to graduate from Ball Memorial Hospital's School of Nursing, having started her nursing education at the former Home Hospital School of Nursing. She was a nurse for several local doctors before being a nurse for many years for Muncie surgeon Will Moore.
Mrs. McClurg was a member of Gideons Auxiliary of Muncie, West Camp, and attended True Light Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sister, Frances Hopper, Muncie, and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, former owner of South Side Coal Co., Orville, E. McClurg, died in 1979.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Meeks Mortuary, with Rev. Dennis Trimble, pastor of True Light Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Calling at the mortuary is an hour before the service Friday.
