Charles F. (Charlie) Sharp
Charles Franklin (Charlie) Sharp, 80, of Lake City, died Saturday at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. A long time member and deacon of Ridgeview Baptist Church, he had served as church pianist for over 20 years. Mr. Sharp was a retired UMWA coal miner and a member of Local No. 1569, District 28.
Born Nov. 21, 1912, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Samuel T. and Martha Cooper Sharp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Arthur Thomas (Tommy) Sharp in 1973 and Bobby Lee (Bob) Sharp in 1988; granddaughter, Susan Sharp in 1971; brothers, William G. (Bill) Sharp, Earl (Ed) Sharp, Wayne Sharp and Roland Sharp; sisters, Ada Adkins and Mada Wallace. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Jane Hatmaker Sharp of Lake City; son and daughter-in-law, Bill (B.J.)and Marcella Sharp of Richmond, Va.; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Lou and Charles Stephens and Mary Sue and Gene Horner, all of Lake City; Nancy J. and Bill Beasley of Tacoma, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beulah Smiddy and Maude Beard, both of Napoleon, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at Cox Funeral Home on Tuesday night with the Rev. Howard Robbins officiating. Burial
