At the age of 22, he married Ursula Feuerphal in 1853 and then moved to America in 1854.
They first settled in, Wisconsin, but came to Meire Grove, MN in 1867. They resided in Meire Grove, MN until 1903 when they moved to Melrose, MN.
He is survived by his wife Ursula and eight children, sixty three grand children and fifty four great-grandchildren.
