POST-TRIBUNE, JEFFERSQN CITY. MISSOURI. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1939
PERITONITIS FATAL TO HENRY BAX Henry Bax, 66-year-old farmer of the St Elizabeth community, died at 5:20 a. m. today at St Marys hospital. Bax was admitted to the hospital Dec. 17 suffering from peritonitis which developed from a ruptured appendix. Attending physicians believed it inadvisable to operate. Bax had been ill previously with heart disease.

Henry B. Bax was a strict disciplinarian. He liked to smoke a pipe using good, home grown tobacco. He had dark hair and was of medium height." (Source: Arthur Bax, 1970)
