US Congressman. He enlisted for service with Company A, 8th Cavalry Regiment and resigned his commission as a first lieutenant on September 26, 1863. He was admitted to the bar in 1864, established his practice in Springfield, and became the prosecuting attorney of Greene County from 1874 to 1876. He served in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1879 to March 3, 1881, then resumed his law practice in Joplin, Missouri. (bio by: Thom Painter)
