Wilbur Fiske Moore

Death: Dec. 9, 1924

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in Lebanon Illinois, in 1840, he served as a Private in Company C, 117th Illinois Infantry, Union Army. On December 16, 1864, during the Battle of Nashville, Tennessee, Private Moore was in an advance Union company on a Confederate battery. Being one the first to reach the enemy position, he captured the flag of the Confederate battery. For extraordinary heroism, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 22, 1865. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
