WILLIAM HAROLD "BILL" PFLUGHAUPT suddenly and unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of January 7, 2011. Bill devoted his life in humble service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He filled his days with time praying and reading/studying Scripture, keeping up with current events, and writing letters to his children and grandchildren. These things, however, were secondary to caring for his precious wife Annie Mae. Bill was born on July 27, 1933 to Harold Alvin Pflughaupt and Laura Ruth Cutler, and grew up on the barren prairies of Pasadena, TX. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1952, and from the University of Houston's R.O.T.C. program with a degree in history in 1958. He briefly served in the Unites States Army, quickly rising from the rank of 2nd Lt. to 1st Lt. before receiving a hardship discharge in 1959. On August 29, 1953 Bill married his sweetheart Annie Mae Petersen in Pasadena at Golden Acres Assembly of God church. He was a pipe insulator by trade and worked many years in the Houston Ship Channel chemical plants as a member of the Asbestos Workers Union Local #22. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annie Mae Pflughaupt of Hockley; two sons, Wayne Alan Pflughaupt and wife Donna of Katy; James Gregory Pflughaupt and wife Laura of Hockley; one daughter, Sharon Kay Pyle and husband Dwight of Baytown; seven grandchildren, Sean Curtis Pflughaupt, Michael Ryan Pflughaupt, Justin Michael Pflughaupt, Kaitlyn Marie Pflughaupt, Michelle Renee Pflughaupt, Chad William Pflughaupt, and Eric Timothy Pflughaupt; three great-grandchildren, Sean Douglas Roberts, Isabella Michelle Pflughaupt and Anthony Samuel Vasquez. Bill is also survived by a sister, Jane Edith Plumlee of Cypress; and nieces, Lisa Beth Mayo and Laura Christine Spencer; and nephew, Daniel Earl Plumlee. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son Gary Lee Pflughaupt.
A service to honor and remember Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, with Rev. Ray Dean Pinson officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery.
