Sylvia Lorraine Welch, 91, formerly of Springdale, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Highlands Center Genesis Elder Care, Brackenridge. She was born March 1, 1919, in Trafford, a daughter of the late Ralph Grinder and Twila (Flenner) Grinder. She has lived in Natrona Heights since 1990 and, prior to that, she lived in Springdale most of her life. A retired private secretary from R.I. Lampus Co., Springdale, Sylvia was a member of Springdale United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and reading. Survivors include her daughters, Sybil (Kenneth L.) Pate, of Natrona Heights, and Jacqueline Kubla, of East Brady; granddaughters, Amy L. Pate, of Tarentum, Stephanie (John) Yunt, of Natrona, and Jennifer (David) Moses, of Suffolk, Va.; grandson, Kenneth L. (Michelle) Pate, of Upper Burrell Township; great-grandson, Kellen Yunt, of Natrona; and two sisters also survive. In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her grandson, John Kubla; brother, Paul Grinder; and sister, Betty Ruth Geer. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday Jan. 11, 2011 in Evergreen Cemetery, Gilpin Township. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., Tenth Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526.
