Native of Pellyton Succumbs In Iowa
William Owen Pelley, 71, a native of Adair County, died on Sunday, November 3, at the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was a son of the late James Carter and Mary Jane Pelley, and was born at Pellyton.
He married Miss Nannie Bet Campbell at Pellyton January 11, 1893, and to this union two children were born, Mrs. Edith Giggenberg and John Carter Pelley, both of Rockwell City, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Pelley moved to Iowa in 1913. He was a successful farmer and member of Modern Woodmen. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Rockwell City Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Arthur Mortenson, and interment was in Rosehill Cemetery.
Mr. Travis O. Morton, of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Hattie Hardwick, of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. O.C. Cundiff, of Roberts, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. T.J. McNelis, Paxton, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Morton, Burbank, Calif., Messrs. Gilbert Morton and Elmer Pelley, of Maud, Okla., were among those who attended the funeral from a distance.
