Chandler - Chanler
Grandson of a Former Prominent Batavian, Married at Geneseo.
Geneseo, July 8. — The wedding of Miss Gabrielle Chanler and Porter Ralph Chandler, both of Geneseo, was celebrated at Sweetbriar farm, home of the brides parents, at 11 o'clock this morning, the Rev. George T. Jones officiating. George Gardner Monks of Boston was best man, and Mrs. E. D. Morgan, Jr., of Westbury, Long Island, first cousin of the bride, was the only attendant.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winthrop Chanler of Geneseo. The groom is the only son of Mrs. Porter Chandler, who was Miss Wadsworth, and of the late Porter Chandler, son of Admiral Ralph Chandler, U.S.N., at one time a prominent resident of Batavia. The groom’s father, the late Porter Ralph Chandler, was a brother of the late Mrs. Le Roy Parker of Batavia. Only immediate relatives were present at the wedding including Mrs. Ralph Chandler Parker of Batavia.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winthrop Chanler of Geneseo. Tho groom is the only son of Mrs. Porter Chandler, who was Miss Wadsworth, and Wife of the late Porter Chandler, son of Admiral Ralph Chandler, U. S. N. Only immediate relatives were present.

MRS. PORTER CHANDLER
GENESEO — Mrs. Margaret Gabrielle Chanler Chandler, 61, of Piffard, wife of Porter R. Chandler died October 25 in their New York City home.
Mrs. Chandler was a daughter of the late Winthrop A. and Margaret Terry Chanler of Piffard. She was a founder of the Catholic Interracial Council of Washington, D. C. and had been active in the American Women's Unit for War Relief. She and her husband were instrumental in helping the Trappists locate the Monastery in the Genesee Valley.
Mr. Chandler is a member of a New York law firm.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Joseph, of Geneseo and David of Washington, D. C; two daughters, Mrs. J. Robert Houston of Geneseo and Miss Mary Chandler of New York City; two bros., Admiral Hubert Chanler of Geneseo, Theodore Chanler of Harvard, Mass.; three sisters, Mrs. L. G. White, St James, Long Island, Mrs. E. W. Pickman, Bedford, Mass., Mrs. Pierre Allegort of Laconia, New Hampshire; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Following services in New York City Tuesday, Mrs. Chandler's body was brought to the W. S. Rector's Sons Funeral Chapel, Geneseo, where a rosary service was held at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral will be held in St. Raphael's Church, Piffard, at 10 a.m. Thursday. Deacon of the Mass will be Rev. Peter Jankowski and Sub Deacon; Rev. Robert Kanka. Rt. Rev. Father Walter, OCSO will be present in the Sanctuary. A choir of Use Trappist Monks will sing the Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Geneseo.
