OBIT: Old Timer's Body Is Found In Pickup Truck
Edward C. "Ed" Crews, 49, member of an old and prominent Childress County family, was found dead in his pickup shortly before dark last night on a ranch where he worked, about eight miles south of Kirkland.
Crews failed to return to his home, 600 Avenue E. NW, shortly after noon, as was his custom, and a search was begun for him, resulting in the finding of his body by his brother, Charles.
He was a former president of the Chidress Chamber of Commerce, and operated the Crews Dairy here for several years. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Chief of Police here last year.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Mary Faulkner, two sons, George Martin and Johnny, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ella Rives of Borger and Edwyna of Childress, two sisters, Mrs. W. D. McDowell of Houston and Mrs. Nan Taylor of Plainview, and one brother, Charles of Childress.
An inquest is to be held today by Justice of the Peace Wade McConnell. Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Newberry Funeral Home.
