| Birth: | Sep. 13, 1921 | | Death: | May 24, 1978 |  Congolese Politician. A founder in 1958 of the Mouvement National Congolais. He became a senator in 1960 and minister of the interior after his Congo's independence from Belgium that same year. As prime minister he faced successive crises, including the attempted succession of Katanga Province under Moise Tshombe (1919-1969). With the help of UN forces, Adoula suppressed the rebellion, but he was replaced by Tshombe in July 1964. Adoula later served as ambassador to Belgium and to to the U.S. and as foreign minister before his retirement in 1970.
