The death roll.
Mrs. Jacob Ewry died last evening at the St. Elizabeth hospital of the infirmitles of age. She was taken to the hospital from her home in the Columbia flats on Saturday. Mrs. Ewry was born in Carlyle, PA, July 2 1834, and came to this city when quite young. Most of her life has been spent in the city and West Lafayette. She was married 58 years ago to Jacob Ewry, who still survives. One daughter Mrs. William Terry, of West Lafayette, and two sisters, Mrs. John Darby, of Chicago, and Mrs. Susan Hamilton, of Indianapolis, also survives her. The deceased was a member of the First Presbyterian church and one of its hardest workers. She was a devout Christian, a woman of noble character and of a lovable nature. Her live was a benediction to those who felt its influence and was lived to good purpose. Her many friends in this city are grieved to learn of her death. The remains were taken to the Bradshaw parlors to be prepared for burial and will be taken to the home of Mrs. Mary Pifer, 330 North Fourth street, Thursday morning. Short services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon and final services at the First Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. A.G. Work will officiate with interment in Springvale cemetery.
