Leon Davenport, age 71, of Yellville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 5 (2011) at Springfield, Mo.

Leon was born July 3, 1939, at Caney. He was the son of the late Homer and Mae (Bridges) Davenport. Leon retired from the Arkansas Forestry Service and was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Davenport was a member of the Caney Church of Christ and a former Yellville-Summit School Board member having served for eight years. Leon was currently serving on the Marion County Farm Bureau Board. He was a "Loving Pa."

Leon married the former Geneva Cook on Mary 25, 1965.

Leon is survived by his wife, Geneva of Yellville; five daughters, Monica Harner and her husband Dennis of Harrison, Marla Walker and her husband Matt of Yellville, Marci Chadwell of Marshfield, Mo., Marcella Swatosh and her husband Chris of Ava, Mo. and Marilyn Pangle and her husband Bryan of Yellville; a brother, Amos Davenport of Nashville, Tenn.; and sisters, Alma Raines of Vinita, Okla., Imogene Neff and her husband James of Tulsa, Okla. and JoRetta Marcussen of Yellville.

Leon is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kelsey, Ashton, Dawson, Braden, Mica, Abby, Reagan, Grant and Brock.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Landon and a granddaughter, Morgan Walker.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Burns Funeral Home, Yellville, with services being conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Burns Funeral Home Chapel. Jeff Crawford will officiate. Burial will follow in the DeSoto Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Caleb Hudson, Clay Hudson, Dane Hudson, Danny Joe Dillard, Tim Standridge and Wade Still.

Memorial can be made to the Children's Home in Paragould, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Ark. 72450.
