Private, 137th Infantry, 35th Division, US Army. World War 1, Purple Heart Medal. Served with the American Expeditionary Force which fought in France. He was severely wounded in the Argonne Forest offensive in September of 1918, getting a large piece of shrapnel through his neck and suffering from a slight bit of mustard gas.
