Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, for Robert B. "Preach" Williams, 86, of Kerr Addition, RD 1 Clearfield, who died Wednesday, Jan 30, 2002, at his residence.
Dr. Duane A. White will officiate and interment will follow at Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW posts.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 9-10 a.m.
Born Sept. 16, 1915, in Bigler, he was the son of the late Oscar and Helen (Gearhart) Williams.
Mr. Williams retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on Dec. 6, 1980, after many years of service, Prior to that he was employed by Harbison Walker Refractories.
He also was a licensed electrician, having worked for many residents in the area.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II.
Mr. Williams was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the F. Michael Sicks Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1785 of Clearfield, a past 5th District Commander of the Military Order of the Cooties and a member of the Clearfield Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 812.
On June 28, 1952, in Clearfield, he wed the former Helen L. Fye, who survives.
Also surviving are five children, Robert H. Williams, Linda Mayhew and Delores Fye, all of CLearfield, Robert L. Fye of DuBois and Patricia Buck of Shawville; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother and sister, John R. Williams of Clearfield and Ethel Fleming of New York; and several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lee Williams, and a brother, Clair Williams.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, Pa. 16830.
