Julia E. Akers, 84, of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Roanoke, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 in Orlando. She was the widow of Chess Akers. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Cheryl Akers of Longwood, Florida; grandson, Nicholas Akers; and her sister, Ethel Adams of Rocky Mount. A native of Rocky Mount, she was the daughter of the late Brad and Maude Wright. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004 from Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. David Webster will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time, 2 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel, 362-1237.
