| Birth: | Sep. 17, 1904 | | Death: | Aug. 19, 1988 |  Ballet Choreographer. Born in Ecuador, he believed to be the second greatest British choreographer (Sir Kenneth MacMillan being first.) He studied dance in London with Massine and joined the Vic-Wells ballet in 1933 and was said to be a very talented character dancer, suited to roles such as Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty. Among the many ballets he choreographed his masterpieces are the great favorites Cinderella, Sylvia, The Two Pigeons and Daphnis and Chloe. He worked in his time with Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, Sir Robert Helpmann and many more. He was knighted in 1962. Died in 1988 in Sussex, UK. (bio by: Medora)
