Funeral services for Helen S. Johnson Hartman, 88, of Monroe, will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 6, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Mr. David Burkett and Bro. Jerry R. Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Hartman passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a teacher in the Ouachita Parish School System for 30 years and a member of Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ. Mrs. Hartman was a gifted educator who prized knowledge and learning. She also loved to garden.

Mrs. Hartman was preceded in death by her husbands, Meredith Johnson and Samuel Hartman; and brother, Charles Sellers.

Survivors include her sons, Preston and Norman Johnson; step daughters, Carol Anne Tubbs and Patty Bewick; brother, Glynn Sellers and wife Betty; sister-in-law, Doris Sellers; grandchildren, Sherri Edgar, Shane Johnson and wife Lucinda, and Shelly Johnson; great grandchildren, Joshua Edgar, Jacob Edgar, Cade, Ryann, and Reece Johnson; step grandson, S. G. "Sonny" Harrington III; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be S. G. "Sonny" Harrington III, Shane Johnson, Joshua Edgar, and Jacob Edgar.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to all care givers especially the staff of Quality Health Care, the staff of St. Francis Medical Center (especially the 6th floor nurses and aides), housekeeper Elnora Norris, and special lifelong friend Mary Lisenby.
