Propst Memorial Rites on Sunday
Sunday Services at N Newton Will Honor Man Killed In India
A memorial service for Robert Propst, twenty-one year-old North Newton soldier who died in an airplane crash in India January 12 of this year, will be conducted from the North Newton Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
The pastor, Rev C A Morrison, will officiate, assisted by Rev O S Ulmer, pastor of the First Baptist church of Newton.
Propst, a sergeant in the air corps, was a son of Mr and Mrs Hobart Propst of this city and he was an aerial gunner on a bomber. His plane was not in battle service at the time of the crash, it was said.
Sergeant Propst, who became Newton proper's first known casualty of World War Number Two was employed in a Hickory mill before joining the service three years ago. His last visit home was on Mother's Day in 1942.
