Peter Postlethwaite was born to William and Mary Postlethwaite in Warrington, Cheshire. He was born into a Catholic family and served mass as a young boy at the local church. He trained as a teacher and taught Drama, before training to be an actor and appeared in numerous television dramas including "Sharp with Sean Bean". Postlethwaite was a credible actor of both stage and screen and a member of The Royal Shakespeare Company. Steven Spielberg, the American film director, said of Postlethwaite, "He is the best actor..in the world." While he was working with Postlethwaite on the films "The Lost World" and "Jurassic Park". Some of Postlethwaite's best known films include the following: Distant Voices, Still Lives, The Usual Suspects, Romeo And Juliet, Alien 3, In The Name Of The Father, Amistad, Brassed Off, The Shipping News, The Constant Gardner, and Inception.
