Alfred G. McIlvaine, Sr., age 87 died on April 29, 2009. He was a graduate of Glassboro High School in 1939 and lived in Pitman for over 54 years. Alfred was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as a Gunner's Mate aboard the destroyer USS Nicholas in the Pacific Theatre. He was a bartender for Tall Pines in Sewell for over 30 years and O'Henrys Restaurant for 10 years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Phillies and Eagles. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
He was the husband of the late Raymonde H. (nee Scholler). Survived by his children Alfred, Jr. (Jane) of Pitman, Bruce (Cindi) of Logan Twp, Robert of Pitman, Michael (Kristin) of Pitman, sister Naomi Batchlor and grandchildren Timothy, Kaitlyn and Michael McIlvaine, Jr. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Kimberlee McIlvaine.
Friends may call on Tuesday 7-9pm and Wednesday 9:30-10:45am in the Pitman United Methodist Church, Broadway and Lamb's Rd., Pitman, NJ08071. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11am in the church. Interment Eglington Cemetery.
