Florence Evelyn Strickler, age 79 of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Clarence and Verna (Clark) Davis on July 21, 1931 in Exline, Iowa. She graduated from the Centerville Community Schools in Centerville, Iowa.
On June 17, 1950, Florence was united in marriage to E.J. "Hank" Strickler in Centerville, Iowa. She was a homemaker and loved to garden and can her produce. She was a member of the Dale Church north of Centerville.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank Strickler on October 2, 1990; sister, Eloise Singley; two brothers, Richard and Clark Davis.
Florence is survived by her sons, Jim Strickler and his wife, Teresa, Ron Strickler, Gary Strickler all of Centerville, Iowa and Dennis Strickler and his wife, Vicky of Moravia, Iowa; daughters, Pat Alston of Newton, Iowa and Joyce Baker of Centerville, Iowa; brothers, C. Edward Davis of Phoenix, Arizona and Kenneth Davis of Denison, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 10am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 1-8pm with the family present from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to either the Haines Cemetery or Dale Church.
