Deceased Name: Lee B. Turner Hannibal April 21, 1917 - Sept. 5, 2000

Hannibal ­ Lee B. Turner, 83, of Hannibal, died at 5:17 p.m. Sept. 5, 2000, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Hannibal. The Rev. David Huck will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Masonic Rites by Hannibal Lodge No. 188, A.F. and A.M. at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Turner was born April 21, 1917, in Monroe County to Dudley Lee and Berta Bledsoe Turner.

He was married to Helen Virginia Howerton on Dec. 31, 1937, in Mexico.

She preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1961.

He was later married to Irene Holcomb Gottman on Aug. 6, 1962, in Hannibal. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Karen Copeland of Peoria, Ill.; one stepson, Dr. Kenneth Gottman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four grandchildren, Roger Yount of Waco, Texas, David Yount of Peoria, Ill., Gregory Yount of Chillicothe and Halana Dawson of Bryan, Texas; two stepgrandchildren, Sara Gottman of Boston, Mass., and Grey Gottman of Boulder, Colo.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Terrance Turner; and two sisters, Mary Margaret Lilly and Christine Crook.

Mr. Turner worked as a serviceman with Citizen Gas Company of Hannibal which is now United Cities Gas. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving with the Sea Bees in the South Pacific. He was a 1936 graduate of Hannibal High School. He was a member of Arch United Methodist Church and was active in the Hannibal Lodge No.188, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, where he was a Past Master, and for many years was secretary of the lodge. He was also a District Deputy Grand Lecturer, and a member of Hannibal Chapter No. 7, Royal Arch Masons; Trinity Council No. 47, Cryptic Masons of Missouri; and Excalibar Commandery No. 5, Knights Templar.

Memorials may be made to Hannibal Masonic Temple.

Pallbearers will be Harold Norman, James Kramer, Ernest Couch, David Ward, Ben Swan and Wilfred Green.
