Biography on page 74 in the book "Staff Officers in Gray" by Robert E. L. Krick.

"..In USN, 1841-1861. Lt. CSN, Nov. 13, 1861. Maj. oo to T. J. Jackson, May 23, 1862, apparently without leaving the navy. Rejoined the navy in Jan. 1863. POW running the bloackade off Wilmington in 1864, but "escaped in Boston Harbour." Lived postwar in Washington, D.C. Married three times. d. Key West, Florida, Apr. 13, 1905. bur. St Mary's Catholic Cem., Monroe Co., Florida."

**Also has a confederate marker at Key West Cemetery.
