CENTRAL KENTUCKY NEWS JOURNAL OBITUARY – 01/27/1972
Mr. David E. Gowdy of 732 East First Street in Campbellsville, son of Mr. D.W. Gowdy and Mrs. Mattie Moore Gowdy, was born in Taylor Co., KY. He died at 1:50 a.m., Sunday, January 23rd [1972] at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington. He had been a patient there for the past 16 years. He professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Campbellsville Christian Church. He was a veteran of WW I, and prior to this was a merchant here in Campbellsville. He was an accountant with the Civil Service during WW II. He organized the Edward's O'Banion American Legion Post #82 here in Campbellsville. He united in marriage to Mrs. Emma Rawlings Ramsey, August 18, 1931. Besides his wife, he is survived by: a stepdaughter, Mrs. Richard Hinders of Middletown, OH; 2 daughters: Miss Ann Margaret Gowdy of Lebanon; Mrs. Martha Mann of Springfield; and a step-grandson, Ricky Hinders of Middletown, OH. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 25th in the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. John Hays. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Bailey, Bud Sims, John White, George Wilson, Harlan Sparks and Thornton Newcomb.
