Mrs. Margaret Alexander Reeder, lifelong resident of Adams county, and prominent in church and patriotic organizations, died at 1 o'clock Friday morning in the family residence, 1873 Hampshire street. She had been ill for several weeks.
Mrs. Reeder was born March 24, 1860, in Melrose township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Perry Alexander. She was a member of one of the oldest families of Adams county. Her grandfather, Samuel Alexander, built the third house in Quincy.
November 20, 1886, she was married to J. Albert Reeder, and was the mother of four children, three of whom survive. They are: Perry of the Gem City Electric company; Samuel of the Otis Elevator company; and Miss Frances, a teacher at Washington school. Three sisters: Mrs. J. F. Duker of Brookfield, Missouri; Mrs. W. R. Sturgiss of Hutchison, Kansas; and Mrs. William Leonard of Mansfield, Ohio, also survive.
Mrs. Reeder was a member of the Vermont street M. E. church; the Ladies' Social Union; Polly Sumner chapter D. A. R, and Grace Whipple chapter, O. E. S.; and was the oldest member of the Honey Bee society of Melrose chapel.
Reverend E. L. Pletcher will officiate at the services in the home at 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
