Jasper enlisted in the United States Army at Paris, Texas on April 29, 1918 to serve in the 165 Depot Brigade. On May 21, 1918, he was transferred to Company D 331 Labor Battalion. He served overseas from July 18, 1918 to July 5, 1919 and was honorably discharged July 17, 1919 with the rank of Private.
