Rita Yates Jones, 80, of Vivian, LA passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010. Funeral services will be held on 1:00PM Monday, January 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Vivian, officiated by her sons, grandson Josh Jones and her son-in-law, Rick Bonnette. Internment will be in Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, TX at 2:00PM Tuesday. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday the 2nd from 6-8 pm at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian.
Mrs. Jones was born September 30, 1930 in Jayton, TX to Robert and Millie Dee Yates. She's been a resident of Vivian for 17 years. She lived most of her life in Longview, TX. She is a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Mooringsport, LA. She was the president of the Longview Music Club in the early 80's. She was an accomplished vocalist and pianist and she taught all 5 of her children to play piano.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Obenia Bratcher and Lucille Phoenix. She is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Jones of Vivian, her 5 children; Philip Jones of Iganga, Uganda, Africa; Dale Jones and wife Kris of Litchfield, IL; LeJuan Bass and husband Dennis of Longview, TX; Trudy Bonnette and husband Rick of Wasilla, Alaska; Bill Jones and wife Kelli of Trophy Club, TX; her sister Ola Mae Maxwell of Diana, TX; 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Countryside Baptist Church c/o Gorsulowsky Funeral Home.
