Following high school he became a self-employed paint contractor and was a member of the Painters Union local formerly in Cleveland and most recently in Chicago.
While residing in Lorain County he painted both residential and commercial buildings in the area, including the Palace Theatre and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, both historic landmarks in Lorain.
Rick taught his sons the trade of painting and from 1985 to 2000, his sons worked with him as Rick Jaworski & Sons, paint contracting, in the Lorain County area.
He was an artist who enjoyed interior design and studied many types of painting techniques and often used his skills to create beautiful spaces for his customers and the public to enjoy. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his spouse Joyce A. (nee Scott) of Oberlin; three children, Jodi L. Jaworski (Michael Francis) of Mentor; Rickie A. Jr. (Catherine Plouffe) of Montana and Matthew J. (Marie) of LaGrange; two stepdaughters, Shellie Hathaway of Lorain and Julie Johnson of Illinois; 18 grandchildren; a sister, Judy Jaworski of Florida; and two brothers, Herm (Tess) of Florida and Jay (Judy) of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Jaworski in 1975 and Leila Jaworski (nee Donnelly) in 1997.
Friends will be received Friday from noon until time of service at 2 P.M. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Walter Metter will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made at any location of First Merit Bank to the Rick Jaworski Memorial Fund.
