Selah was the son of Selah and Balsorah Brewer Bacon. Selah married Delissa Alford on September 25, 1825 in Connecticut, and following her death, married Emma Butterfield Fisk on May 31, 1840 in Franklin County, Ohio. After her death, he then married Martha Junkins Gilpatrick, the widow of Joseph Gilpatrick on 26 June 1862 in Wood County. By his first wife, he had Harriet, Selah Alford, who died at six years old, and Delissa Antoinette. By his second, he had Selah Alonzo.
