THE DEATH OF CLAUDE PLATT - Stockwell, Aug 26 - Funeral services for the Rev. Claude Haven Platt, 58, former Stockwell resident who died recently at Golconda, Ill., were held at the Dickerson funeral home Saturday, the Rev. C. V. Roush officiating. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Platt, Rev. Platt was born near here and in 1907 married Bertha Baer who died in 1937. The couple lived here until 1917. In 1918 he entered the ministry serving pastorates in California and Nevada for the United Brethren church and Presbyterian board of home missions. In 1922 he came back east and was ordained a minister in the Christian church. He served in Indiana, Illinois and Iowa, retiring in 1929 to engage in the practice of physic-therapy at Golconda. He continued to act as supply pastor. Nine children survive, also five bothers including Quincy and Jacob, Stockwell; William of Louisiana, John and Everett of Lafayette; and three sisters: Mrs. Haven Locke of Jefferson; Mrs. Carrie Roudebush, Lafayette, and Mrs. Ross Fisher, Stockwell.[Platts.FTW]

The marriage of Miss Bertha M. Baer and Claude Haven Platt was solemnized last Wednesday evening at 3 o'clock at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. D. A. Skinner. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Bunday, pastor of the Stockwell Christian Church, in the presence of about seventy-five relatives and friends. The bride wore a handmade gown of white Victorian lawn, trimmed with lace and insertion. The ceremony was followed by an elaborate supper. Mr. and Mrs. Platt will reside at Onward, where the groom is employed as telegraph operator.
