Clem Poag, 89, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in Mount Pleasant.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Nevills Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Glen Griffith and Bro. Al Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Nevills Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Van Bowen, John Edwards, Ricky Joyner, David McNeil and Carroll Dean Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Chico Collins and Dr. O.M. Reichert.

Mr. Poag was born on July 16, 1921, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Neely Poag and Valeria Brown Poag. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Lone Star Steel Company. He was a rancher.

He is survived by his sister, Phila McMillion of Houston; three nephews and spouses, Doyle and Pam Poag of Mount Pleasant; Brian and Sandy McMillion of Sugarland; Dewayne and Vickie Poag of Winnsboro; four nieces and spouses, Joan and Bill Mahry and Debra and Buddy Spratt, all of Paris; Angela and Steve Martin of San Antonio, and Linda and Glen Adams of Clarksville; two sisters-in-law, Beth Poag of Mount Pleasant and Dorthy Terry of Paris; and nine great-nieces and nephews, and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill Bob Poag and Lester Poag.
