Mrs. Sarah Burns died at her home of her daughters in Rockford, Ill., on Sept. 15, 1907; aged 87 years. She was the widow of the late Arthur Burns, a well-known resident of this place. Her maiden name was Sarah Devlin. She was born in County Antrun, Ireland, in 1820. She was united in marriage to Mr. Arthur Burns. She removed from this place to Rockford about twenty-five years ago. She was held in high esteem by friends and acquaintances.
She is survived by seven daughters and one son, twenty-five grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. The son and daughters are: Peter Burns of Aberdeen, S. Dak., Mrs. Catherine Greenwood, Mineral Point, Mrs. Jas. Smith, Aberdeen, Mrs. Sarah Collins, Mrs. Alice McGuire, Rockford, Mrs. Annie O'Roke, Oakland, California, Mrs. Nellie Johnston, Miss Margaret Burns, Rockford.
The body was brought to this city and the funeral took place on Tuesday morning, with burial in the family lot in St. Paul's Cemetery, Rev. James O'Keefe officiating.
