Zaida Josephine McClard, 97, died on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born March 24, 1910, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Hiram Fred Tash and Una Pearl (Stanley) Tash. She was the fourthof fivechildren.
She married Jack Morris McClard on April 19, 1931. He died Nov. 16, 1956.
She moved to The Dalles in 1954. She lived there until 1983 when she moved to Fossil, where her daughter Susan resided, and remained there before moving back to The Dalles in 1997.
She was known for her creative talents. She was a wonderful seamstress and made many beautiful clothes for her family. She was probably best known for her creative talents in making dried flower arrangements and other arts and crafts. She and her best friend Jeanette Neary sold their creations all over Oregon. They developed many new ways of drying flowers, other foliage and various other items they used in their creations. They had shops in Bend and The Dalles for a time. One large business which placed orders for some of the items created was Jackson and Perkins.
The most important thing in her life was her family, and she was especially proud of her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 11 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in The Dalles at 11 a.m. with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
