Mary Wilbourn Arrington, 95, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at her home.
A native of Meridian, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Eggleston Wilbourn.
Mrs. Arrington was a graduate of Meridian High School; and Converse College in Spartenburg, S.C.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, she had served as Bible Moderator and chairman of her church circle. She was a past member of the Meridian Junior Auxiliary, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, and the Meridian Medical Auxiliary.
Mrs. Arrington, was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Lamar Arrington Sr., her brother, James Cox Wilbourn, and sisters Annie Mosley Wilbourn and Constance Wilbourn Davies.
Survivors include her son, Dr. George Lamar Arrington Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of Meridian; her daughter, Mary Arrington Douglas and her husband, James Ray Douglas, of Baton Rouge, La.; her grandchildren, Paige Arrington Sikes and her husband, Tom, Susan Arrington Coffin, and her husband, Bob, George Lamar Arrington III and his wife, Lynne, and Duncan Hobart Arrington and his wife, Sandra, all of Meridian, Mary Arrington Douglas of New Orleans, La., Anne Douglas Solomon and her husband, James, of Newtown, Conn., James Ray Douglas Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Los Angeles; 11 great grandchildren, and a sister, Charlotte Wilbourn Carriere of New Orleans.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Dr. Rhett G. Payne and Robert Horel officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Arrington, James R. Douglas Jr., Duncan Arrington, Bob Coffin, Tom Sikes and James Soloman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 911 23rd Ave., Meridian, MS 39301; Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703, or to a charity of choice.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
