The funeral of James V. Gaither, who died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles D. Summers, 1907 Harlem avenue, took place yesterday afternoon. Rev. W. G. Herbert, of the Caroline Street Methodist Episcopal Church, conducted the services. The pallbearers were Messrs. George P. Nichols, Emil Gontrain [sp?], James A. Hartman, John Koblitz, Henry F. Carstens, and William Mackessy [sp?], of the composing room of THE SUN, where for 15 years Mr. Gaither had been employed. Interment was made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Note: James was the son of Anne Arundel Co. carpenter Vachel H. Gaither and Margaret E. Robinson Gaither. He was the great-grandson of Capt. Vachel Gaither (1750-1803), who served the Severn Battalion of the Maryland Militia during the Revolution.
