Esther M. DeLong, 76, of Polk RD 1, died Sunday evening, June 17, 2001, in United Community Hospital, Grove City, after an extended illness.
Born April 30, 1925, in Raymilton, she was a daughter of Albert and Goldie Beach Shingledecker.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mrs. DeLong was a lifelong homemaker and attended the Centre United Methodist Church in Polk.
She was married Dec. 13, 1945, to Norman L. DeLong Sr., who preceded her in death.
Surviving are four daughters, Carol Brunson Rockwell of Grove City, Vicki Buckley of Stoneboro, Nancy Reimold of Cochranton and Kathie Stull of Hermitage; two sons, Norman L. DeLong Jr. of Jackson Center and Rick DeLong
of Cabot; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by four sisters, Dorothy "Peg" Dick of Sandy Lake, Margaret Wheeler of Polk, Marian Wheeler of Stoneboro and Priscilla "Hun" McCool of Cooperstown; and three brothers, Albert Shingledecker of Stoneboro and Cecil Shingledecker and Richard Shingledecker, both of Franklin. She was preceded in death by
her parents and husband.
Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Alexander-McMullen Funeral Home, 3236 S. Main St., Sandy Lake. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Sheer of the Centre United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Centre Cemetery, Mineral Township.
