Mrs. Anna McCormally, 82, died Friday March 19 at Chapman Valley Manor where she had been a resident the past 12 months.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday, March 22 at St. Michael's Church with the Rev. Joseph Scheetz officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Eight grandsons and 3 granddaughters served as pallbearers.

Anna E. McCormally was born September 22, 1893, at Chapman, the daughter of Charles Nicholson and Agnes McGrath. Her mother died when she was nine and her father when she was 20 and she assumed the role of parent to her younger sisters. She graduated from Dickinson County Community High School in the class of 1913 and attended a Topeka business school, after which she worked as a secretary at DCHS and in the Kansas State Senate.

She was married to Patrick H McCormally August 1, 1921. They farmed south of Chapman until moving into town in 1936. He died in 1945.

Prior to her marriage, she was a clerk in the Chapman post office, and during World War II she returned to that job where she remained until her retirement.

She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Royal Neighbors and the Altar Society. She was also an active member of the Democratic party. Throughout her life, her first interest was her church.

She is survived by two sons, John P of Burilington, Iowa and Charles J of Mulvane; a sister Tess (Mrs. Charles) Langley of Ellis; ten grandsons, Sean of Burlington, Iowa, Kevin and Timothy of Washington, DC, and Terence and Thomas of Iowa City. She is survived by four granddaughters, Susan of Pittsburg and Colleen of Emporia, daughters of Charles; and Mariann and Megan daughters of John; and by three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children, Andrew James in 1926 and Agnes Ann in 1927; by a brother Michael; and by three sisters, Mary, Agnes and Frances.
