Mother of the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr., founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After the boy Joseph's calling, his family were the first to hear of the marvelous occurance. His parents were especially faithful all of their lives. Her husband died before the great Mormon trek to the Rocky Mountains, and she stayed in Nauvoo, with her murdered son's wife, Emma, to attend to her.
