Dorothy (Bushnell) Whitney, 88, of Bedford NH and formerly of Bristol NH, died July 5, 2002, at the Laurel Center in Bedford after a brief period of failing health. Mrs. Whitney was born Feb. 6, 1914, in New Haven CT, daughter of the late Harold Benjamin and Lena Jean (Dayton) Bushnell. She had lived in Bristol since 1981, and formerly lived in Amherst NH, Contoocook NH, West Hartford CT, and Bloomfield CT. Mrs. Whitney graduated from New Haven High School and Larson College.

She was the widow of David Jordan Whitney, who died in May 1989. They were married in 1940.

Mrs. Whitney and her husband enjoyed singing and were members of the choirs in their churches and the Nashua Choral Society. She belonged to the Botsford Family Historical Association in Milford CT. She and her husband were members of the Universalist Church of the Redeemer in West Hartford, where they were married. The family attended the Congregational churches of Hopkinton NH and Amherst.

Survivors include her son David Botsford Whitney of Goffstown NH; daughter Sarah Dayton Whitney of South Portland ME; four grandchildren; four nephews; and her cat Snowball.
