Lloyd Bratcher, 87, of East Plum Street, died Monday (Dec. 13, 1993) at Guadalupe Medical Center. Services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Fox & Lake Church of Christ. Ray Bailey and Les Earwood are to officiate. Burial is to follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.

Mr. Bratcher was born Jan. 13, 1906, in Hill County, Texas. He was raised and received his education in Texas. He moved to Carlsbad in 1941 and joined the the U.S. Army the same year. He served with the signal corps in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged in 1945 and he returned to Carlsbad where he worked at International Mineral and Chemical Corp. until he retired in February of 1971. He married Opal Brown on July 3, 1947, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Bratcher of Carlsbad; one daughter Joye Goad of Carlsbad; one son, William A. Brown of Myrtle, Mo.; and six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are William F. Brown, Bob Rostro, Johnny L. Goad, Kenny Garner, Jamie Garner and Ray Young.

West Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
