Son of Joseph J. Johnston and Priscilla Higginbotham

JOHNSTON, James Albert, 76. a retired farmer of Quick, died yesterday in Charleston Memorial Hospital after short illness. He had lived at Quick for 52 years and was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Eva; three sons, Edward, Nelson and Russell, all of Quick; three daughters, Mrs. Effle Neal of Indore, Mrs. Laura Nottingham of Quick and Mrs. Violet Morton of Cannelton; a foster son, Earl Johnston, also of Quick; a brother, Joseph of Cedar Grove; a sister, Mrs. May Shaffer of Charleston; a half-brother, Rev. William Johnston of Beech Glen; four half-sisters, Mrs. Rachel Mounts of Hometown, Mrs. Esta Scoto and Mrs. Rebecca Smith, both of Bridgeport, Ohio, and Mrs. Nettie Bodine of Pittsburgh; 35 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the home conducted by Rev. Homer Foster. Burial will be in Johnston Cemetery at Quick. The body is at Combs mortuary at Gauley Bridge and will be taken up to the home at 3 p. m. today.
