JOHN S. TYLER NEARLY 90 PASSED AWAY JANUARY 20

JOHN STILWELL TYLER JR. was born in Kalamo Township, Eaton County, Michigan on March 16th 1859, and passed away at the home of his son ARTHUR G. TYLER near Hastings, Michigan, on January 20, 1949.

He was the son of JOHN STILWELL TYLER SR. and his wife MARY ANN MARRIOTT TYLER. When he was three years old, his mother passed away and his father later married ELIZABETH L. JEFFRIES, who for many years was a mother to her husband's children.

John S. Tyler Jr., whom we mourn today, was always kind and thoughtful of others. He was energetic, a good neighbor and looked on the bright side of life. When a young man he joined the Methodist church of Kalamo, Michigan, and he lived a christian life. Later he transferred his membership to Vermontville Methodist church.

In October, 1895 he married MISS ELLA ODELL of Allegan, Michigan. She died in April, 1901. The two children of their marriage were from that time on first in their father's affection and in his plans. They are ARTHUR G. TYLER of Hastings, and MRS. MARTHA E. TYLER CHADWICK of Tarpon Springs, Fla., who now mourn his loss. They have both been devoted in the care of their father in his later years. For seven months he has lived in his son's home, where he has had constant attention and loving care.

Mr. Tyler was always fond of children and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were dear to him. The grandchildren are ROBERT TYLER, BONNA TYLER, MRS. PHYLLIS TYLER JOHNSON, MRS. ELLA TYLER BLISS, all of Hastings, and ARTHUR TYLER JR.--now in the Navy.

There are many great grandchildren who will miss their kind and smiling grandfather.

Of his four brothers and two sisters, one sister MRS. EDITH TYLER WILSON of South Haven remains.

John S. Tyler Jr. spent all but a few years of his life on the Tyler farm in Kalamo Township, Eaton County, which had belonged to his father before him. Last summer, when he could no longer look after it, the farm was sold. For a few years Mr. Tyler has lived in his home in the village of Vermontville.

In the country and in the town, he leaves many friends to remember his kindness, courage and good cheer.

This tribute is written in loving remembrance by his sister MRS. EDITH TYLER WILSON.
