Douglas M. Jirschele, age 47, of Clintonville, passed away Sunday morning, October 3, 2004, at his residence due to a life-long battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Doug was born on October 18, 1956, in Clintonville, WI, the son of Donald and Mary (Raffin) Jirschele.

Doug graduated from Clintonville High School, where in 1975, he was once the captain of the Trucker basketball team. He also attended college at UW Eau Claire and UW Green Bay. He worked for D. Mitchell Interiors and had also worked for O'Connor Sales and Realty in Clintonville as an accountant.

He was also a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville. As many know, Doug was a huge sports fan which lead him to become a sports announcer for the local High School games and also to join the Clintonville Athletics. Doug was also what some would call famous for his hosting of a sports banquet in Clintonville to raise money for many local sports organizations.

Doug had many hobbies in his life like reading and working on his computer, but realistically, his biggest hobby was helping people. Anyone who needed help could count on Doug.

Survivors are his parents, Don and Mary Jirschele, Clintonville; two brothers, Mike (Sheri) Jirschele, Clintonville, and Jim Jirschele, Clintonville; four sisters, Jane (Dennis) Schultz, Appleton, Margaret (Dave) Arneson, Merrill, Janice (Brian) Higgins, Freedom, and Karen (Douglas) Nowak, Waupaca; 12 nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Jennifer and Justin Jirschele, Sydney and Sawyer Schultz, Tori, Marlee and Sam Arneson, Alli, Erin and Jackson Higgins, and Victoria Nowak; also many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Doug was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Peter.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Don Everts officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery in Clintonville.
