DR. PHILO A. TYLER
PHILO A. TYLER, son of JOHN S. and ELIZABETH JEFFRIES TYLER, was born in Kalamo township, Eaton County, Michigan, February 23, 1864. After finishing the Cogsdill school he attended Vermontville high school, and later Olivet College from which he graduated. He entered the Detroit School of Medicine and after securing his diploma began the practice of medicine.
He was united in marriage to MISS FLORENCE B. TENEYCK, June 4, 1895, and opened an office in the city of Lansing where he was a successful physician for over thirty years maintaining an office in the Tussing building, but was obliged to retire three years ago because of ill health and move his office to his home.
One son was born to Dr. and Mrs. Tyler, NEIL S., who with his family of wife and two sons have been living with the Doctor and caring for him for the past six months, since the death of his wife, at his home 824 Chicago Avenue. He also leaves his aged mother MRS. ELIZABETH L. WHITE, his sister MRS. EDITH WILSON, both of South Haven, and two half-brothers EDWIN H. and JOHN S. TYLER of Kalamo township.
Dr. Tyler passed away Monday evening at six o'clock, June 29, '31, at St. Lawrence Hospital where he had been for nine days. The body was removed to the Palmer-O'Donnell Funeral Home and services were held there at two o'clock by Rev. Ray B. Deer of the First Baptist church, and burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery.
