Charles Edward Alcorn was called to his eternal rest on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Ephriam McDowell Hospital in Danville, Kentucky.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Letcher-Alcorn, parents Vernon W. and Mattie P. Carson-Alcorn, one son, Rodney E. Alcorn and two brothers, Carl Jeffers and Melvin Coleman Alcorn.
Charles received his early education at Bate High School. To provide for his family he began working for Southern Railroad and later retired from Norfolk-Southern Corporation. He also enjoyed crusin' around town checking out the sights in Danville.
Charles is survived by three daughters, Bonnie (Mark) Walker, Marian and Wanda Alcorn; two sons, Charles Martel Alcorn and Perrie Thompson, all of Danville, KY; one sister, Helen D. Alcorn, Atlanta GA; two brothers, Raymond W. Alcorn, Cleveland OH and H. Kenneth Alcorn, Dayton, OH; one Aunt, Flora Carson-White, Stanford, KY; 15 grandchildren, Christopher, Antwyne, Brian, Tyesha, Tianna, Tailyn, Dedric Alcorn, and Demarrius and Leslie Walker, Shadonna Ball, Justin and Morgan Grey, Marcus and Alannah Thompson and Alexix Tate; 4 great grandchildren, Bricen, Kaylin, Aaliyah and Anlah Alcorn, one sister-in-law, Margaret Yowell-Alcorn, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Brenda Alcorn and Berline Wilson.
