Birth: Sep. 30, 1679
Death: Oct. 8, 1767

Jonathan and his large family settled in East Granville, Ma about 1741. He was a Deacon in the Congregational Church. Jonathan's family were buried in Main Road Cemetery. Jonathan died when his house burned in Granville Oct 8 1867 according to the Church Records. The Granville Vital Records show a Private Record of his death PR6 Jonathan, burned, ___, 1768, a87. There is no record of a cemetery burial for Jonathan. It is possible that there could have been a burial on his property. Burial is unlikely given the fire. His wife Abigail is also listed in the Granville Vital Records as private record PR6 without a cemetery reference. Abigail built a second home on the existing plot where she spent her remaining years. It is possible that she chose burial on her property.

His wife, Widow Abigail Hale Rose rebuilt a home on the same plot as her orginal home with Jonathan and lived there 25 years until 1792, when she died at age of 103. At her 100th birthday celebration she had over 350 living family members.

1735 Ran a grist mill for a couple years in Enfield, then sold it, moved to Bedford (Granville), MA. He lived in Durham and Killinsworth and owned land in Gulliford.

From "History of Durham", "The four primitive towns on Connecticut River, namely Wethersfield, Hartford, Windsor, and Saybrook, the four primitive towns on Long Island Sound, namely Stratford, Milford, New Haven, and Guilford, were all settled by companies of Englishman, thrown out and off from the mother country by its internal convulsion....Durham settled more than 60 years, two generations, after the others in more quiet and less heated times.... under the working of gentler forces. In the primitive towns mentioned, the spirit of dissent was rife, nearly as much so, in some cases as when the settlers left England.... Secessions took place from the Churches and towns for the purpose of forming other churches and towns, where the opinions and measures of the seceders might prevail."

As Jonathan aged, he gradually lost his eyesight, and, at the age of 89, he was sitting by his fire in the evening when he rose and fell into the fire and was unable to remove himself. It is believed his failed eyesight caused him to fall into the fire. He was living in Granville, MA. at that time. His obituary was published in the "New Haven Newspapers"
